Principal’s Message

Dear IAA Parents,

On behalf of everyone at the Islamic Academy of Alabama, I would like to welcome all new and returning families to the 2023-2024 school year.  IAA Administration, School Board and teachers look forward to a productive partnership with you in order to help our students achieve their highest potential by creating a healthy, safe and stimulating environment.

Islam is a religion that celebrates seeking knowledge as a virtue and here at IAA we view learning as both an obligation and a necessity.  We strive to provide access to the best education while ensuring opportunities for individual success, equitable and active learning, and social-emotional learning. We have a student-centered learning philosophy which ensures that our graduates will be innovative leaders with confidence and conviction in their beliefs as they grow and mature.

At IAA, our focus is on character education in addition to academics. Each year we choose a yearly theme to teach our students character based on the principles found in the Quran and Sunnah.  Last year, our theme was RESPECT and we focused on guiding our students to show respect for others and themselves through kindness, mutual support, empathy and by having a growth mindset. Our theme for this year is: EXCELLENCE. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that they strive for excellence in everything they do by encouraging them to;

• Display honesty, respect, and responsibility in all their actions
• Set clear goals for themselves in order to have direction and purpose
• Adopt effective study habits and consistently applying them
• Show a commitment to learning and initiative by challenging themselves to go above what is expected
• Embrace a growth mindset and learn from their mistakes

I would like to thank you for the privilege of serving you and your family this school year. Please know that my office is always open to you and I look forward to working closely with you to ensure the success of each and every student.
