Islam

Students at IAA take Islam and Quran from grade PreK – 12th grade. The complete program of Islamic studies covers Quranic studies, Seerah, Hadith, Aqidah, Fiqh, Akhlaq, comparative religions, and contemporary world and Islamic history.

The Islamic studies program aims to build;

    1. Strong, positive self-identity that reflects pride in Islam and builds a clear sense of purpose
    2. Strong love and mindfulness of Allah
    3. Character, values, and morals that are aligned with the teachings of Islam
    4. Ability and desire to properly perform spiritual duties of prayer, fasting, and pilgrimage.

Our Quran curriculum at IAA focuses on Quran recitation, memorization and tafseer (interpretation for clear understanding and conviction of the words of Allah), all which will serve as guidance in the lives of students. Our students have access to our state of the art Quran Lab which features 20, touchscreen computers equipped with headphones which allows our students to work on their own level with differentiated instruction. They have access to Nooraniya and many other online resources which we use to integrate technology into classroom instruction.

Students are given many opportunities throughout the school year to showcase their Islamic Studies and Quran skills including; Islamic Quiz, Jeopardy Night, Quran Competition and Friday Khutba and Weekly Khatira prepared and delivered by students.
